Veneers in West Palm Beach

A veneer changes the visible surface of a tooth. Because that is a long-term decision, planning deserves as much attention as the treatment itself.

What a veneer is

A veneer is a thin facing bonded to the front of a tooth to change its shape, color, or the impression of its position. Because the bond relies on enamel, the amount and health of the enamel present is one of the first things assessed.

When veneers are considered

Veneers are usually discussed when several visible characteristics need correcting at once, or when the issue is not something whitening or minor reshaping can address.

  • Discoloration that does not respond to whitening
  • Chipped or unevenly worn edges
  • Small gaps between front teeth
  • Teeth that appear slightly out of alignment
  • Shape or proportion that is out of balance with neighboring teeth

Preparation and commitment

Depending on the design and how much correction is needed, some enamel may be reduced to make room for the veneer. That step is not reversible, so it should be discussed explicitly: how much preparation is planned, why, and what maintaining the result will look like over the next decade.

Where a more conservative alternative would achieve most of what the patient wants, it is offered first.

Design comes before delivery

Shade, edge shape, length, surface texture and how the teeth sit relative to the lips are all deliberate choices. Photographs, digital design and provisional restorations let those choices be evaluated while they can still be adjusted easily.

Restorations do not respond to whitening, so if you are also considering whitening, that sequence needs to be settled before veneers are made.

Care and longevity

Veneers require the same daily hygiene as natural teeth, with particular attention at the gum line. If you clench or grind, protecting the work is part of the plan rather than an afterthought.
