A veneer is a thin covering bonded to the front of a tooth to change shape, alignment appearance, or color. Because it is bonded to enamel, the health and quantity of that enamel matters a great deal.
Preparation and reversibility
Depending on the design, some enamel may need to be reduced. Any treatment that removes tooth structure should be discussed as a long-term commitment rather than a cosmetic experiment. Ask specifically how much preparation your plan involves.
Design before delivery
Shade, proportion, edge shape, and how the teeth relate to the lips are all design decisions. Photographs, trial designs, or provisional restorations let you evaluate a result before it becomes permanent.
Longevity and care
Veneers require normal daily hygiene plus protection from excessive force. If you clench or grind, that needs to be addressed as part of the plan, not afterwards.
